1. Be cautious! Even though your pet would never intentionally bite you under normal circumstances, they may be in shock and might not recognize you.
2. If animal is apprehensive, or trying to bite you, muzzle before handling.
3.  Keep area as clean as possible.
4.  Cover burn with cool, damp gauze (or paper towel).  Do not use cotton.
5.  Do not put oil, ointments or creams on burn.
6.  Call veterinarian right away, tell them what happened and when.  Tell them how long it will take you to get there.
7. Transport animal to veterinarian immediately.
8.  Do not underestimate burns, burns can easily lead to infection, blisters, swelling, weeping sores, and can destroy tissue.  A 15% body burn can be fatal.
