1. Be cautious!  Even thought your pet would never intentionally bite you they might do so in a moment of panic.
2.  Call veterinarian immediately.  Tell them what the animal ate and when, and how long it will take you to get there.
3.  If you can see object, you may try to sweep it out of the way with a side to side motion using a spoon. Be cautious, you may force the object deeper into the airway. Do not pull out partially swallowed string or partially embedded objects (such as fish hooks). Do not forcibly remove the object.  Be careful the animal doesn't bite you.
4.  The animal may need x-rays to find out where item is located and whether it is passing through the system.  Surgery may be necessary to remove the object.
5.  Transport animal to the veterinarian even if you have removed the object. You may have missed some pieces, the throat may swell after trauma, and there may be lacerations to the throat and mouth. ThereÂ
also my be some internal damage.
